The irony of it ….
Osama bin Laden’s hideout was apparently fingered in part because he had no internet service. He and his associates figured it was best to communicate with the world only through trusted couriers. They assumed there was a likelihood any communication might be tapped, profiled, and traced back to them.
Unfortunately, they chose to settle in an expensive compound in a wealthy neighborhood in a city in Pakistan. Once their trackers decided there was something interesting in the area, the compound stood out like a black hole. No internet service. No cell phone usage. Probably no landline or satellite TV. It just didn’t fit the profile of the resident’s presumed affluence.
