Special Interest Groups (SIG)
Special Interest Groups

It's the second week of January. How many resolutions have you broken this year? Make joining a SIG one of those resolutions you keep.

For those new to the club, the Special Interest Groups, or SIGs, are special meetings dedicated to specific topics. Remember, SIGs are for the club's paying members. You can give your $5 dues for membership through April 2004 to the moderator at any meeting or mail them with the information at the address below.

The SIG schedule is as follows:

Dues mail-in form »

Webmaster's SIG
We're looking for volunteers to "own" each page of the website. If you'd like to learn a little bit about creating web pages and help support the club, please contact Dewey Williams, webmaster.

Coming in Februrary! Hands-on group opportunities for anyone to learn how a webpage is made.

This group will also get tips from Galen Bolen on graphics manipulation -- from drawing to saving in a format that others can use.

MS Office SIG

Microsoft Office SIG
"Beyond words and numbers"

January 12, 2004, 7:00pm
CompUSA, South Boulevard and I-485

The MS Office SIG this month covers Working with Excel. The excitement starts! From here on out, you may pick up tips for uses you've never imagined of Office.

Ideas and a downloadable session outline are on the MS Office SIG page below but if there's something you're particularly interested in, let us know.

"Eatin' before the Meetin' " ? There are no plans; but if you want to get together, email office@pc3.org before 9:00 am Monday with a suggestion of where to go. Check your mail after 2:30 for the consensus.

Please help us promote this SIG by telling your coworkers, underlings, (boss), friends -- anyone who uses MS Office -- that they'll be more efficient after a few months with us.

Digital Camera SIG

Digital Camera SIG
Tuesday, January 13, 2004, 7:00pm
CompUSA, South Boulevard and I-485

The next Digital Camera Meeting will be Tuesday, January 13th @ 7pm @ CompUSA in Pineville.

Linda will teach you how to set up folders in a root folder. And then show you how to place originals, print versions, and web versions into folders. Then she will show you how to first create print versions using Photoshop. After that, she will teach you how to create an action in Photoshop and to take all those print versions and then convert them to web versions and put them into a web folder. It will be more about purposing and organizing your photos for print and web and to be able to burn that root folder onto a disk for storage.

I (Richard) will go over all the Holiday photos you took, and all the camera toys you got for Christmas. You more than likely have many questions about you new holiday toys, and questions about the quality of pictures you took at the next meeting, we will answer all of these questions. So bring your holiday photos and equipment, and I promise you'll like the program.
